Nzinga Jaha Hammonds-Wyatt was the beloved eldest daughter of Harold Wyatt and Cordelia Hammonds. Known affectionately as Jaha or Zingy, was a beautiful soul with a plethora of earthly achievements. Jaha excelled academically, matriculating through the Clayton County School and Atlanta Public School systems as a straight-A student. She was a Challenge student in elementary, middle and high school, as well the honorary Star student at Benjamin Mays High School. She was a member of NESBY, Georgia Tech Fellowship program, and the Honor Society. Nzinga was awarded a full scholarship to Spelman College ('23), among many other schools, and interned for Microsoft and Google in the field of Engineering. She was also a Math Tutor in the Fulton County School system.
Although trained in Computer Science, Nzinga was an artist and lover of the arts. She sang in the Benjamin Mays High choir and was a member of the High Arts Museum throughout her college career. She often painted and drew in her spare time and tutored middle school students for the Fulton County School system. Nzinga was a cherished member of Hillside and Cascade Methodist churches.
Nzinga is survived by her father, Harold Wyatt and mother, Cordelia Hammonds. She is also survived by her siblings, Caroline Cummings, Harold Wyatt IV, Harold Wyatt V and Zola Wyatt. She leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, Nakeisha Wyatt, Chelsea Wyatt, Lisa Hammonds, Theresa (Evans Family), Fred Hammonds Jr., Fred Hammonds III, Quacy Hammonds and grandmother, Queenie Hammonds.
To honor N' Zinga’s life and to help others, the family invites those who wish to consider a donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), supporting suicide awareness and mental-health advocacy.
