Ms. Cheryl Yvonne Griffin

CHERYL YVONNE GRIFFIN

Cheryl Yvonne Griffin was born on November 26, 1952, in Jersey City, NJ, to Edwin
Dennis and Iva Louise Griffin.
Cheryl attended Jersey City public schools, graduating from Dickinson High School in
1971. After graduating she worked many years at American Express in New York City.
In 1990, she relocated to the Atlanta, GA area. Embracing her new home, was
employed by Coca Cola, Georgia Tech and finally, as a civil servant for The City of
Atlanta. She also pursued opportunities with her small business CYGnificant Events.
Cheryl was a daughter, a mother, a sister, and friend to many. She will be remembered
for her kindness, her laughter, her love of conversation and “good food”; and her
great, unwavering capacity to care for and support her loved ones.
Cheryl departed this life suddenly on November 14, 2025, in Douglasville, GA. She
leaves us to join her father, Edwin Dennis Griffin, her daughters Tawn Chantel Griffin
and Kysten Saeedah Raleigh.
Her memory will be cherished by her mother, Iva Louise Griffin; sisters, Iva Denise
Griffin of Gainesville, VA, Lisa Kim Griffin Aycox (Rodney, Sr.) of Jersey City, NJ;
brother Allen L. Griffin of Los Angeles, CA; nephews, Torin J. Griffin, Allen Mitchell
Griffin and Rodney L. Aycox, Jr. ; nieces Lily C. Aycox, Iva K. Griffin and Gail Scales;
great nieces, Maliyah Nicole Griffin, Amerie Harris and Regina Mitchell; special friends
Dawn Meinga of NJ, Thomasena Moss of NJ, Emmanuel Hudson of GA, Anne and
Willie Slan of GA; and a host of family members and friends.
